Refuse to Participate!

I was talking with a friend the other day and the subject of the economy came up.  She was saying that she was going to be cutting back this year on buying Christmas presents because of the bad economy.

I stopped her and said that I agree that the overall economy is bad but I asked her if her own "personal economy" was bad?

I asked, is your house been foreclosed on or was in danger of being foreclosed on?  She said, no.

I asked her if she was in any danger of loosing her job?  She said no, that she was very secure in her future with her company.

I asked if she had taken a recent pay cut or was in anyway making any less money then last year?  The answer again was no.

In fact, now that gas prices are down, you are really in pretty much the same financial shape that you were in last Christmas.  She could not agree more.

What my friend had done was accept what she had been told by the news media and well meaning friends and had started participating in the bad economy.  I told her that I was refusing to participate.

Yes, the economy is bad but we all have complete control over our standing in life.  If you are not where you want to be.  If you are behind on your mortgage or your retirement account isn't what it once was, do something about it.

REFUSE TO PARTICIPATE in this or any other down economy.  Turn off the news and take a look at your situation without outside influences.  If a change needs to be made, make it.

Yours in Success,

Dennis
